You’ve probably been planning to visit Tulum for a long time now and wanna make the most out of your visit! Unfortunately, sometimes plans don’t go as we intended too; no matter for how long you’ve been planning your trip, unexpected events may change your original plans; maybe your flight was delayed, the weather changes drastically or even you like to make changes on the way. Or maybe you just booked for a few days cause you never thought that this piece of paradise in the Mexican Caribbean had so much to offer!
Trust us, it happens! People just fall in love with Tulum and all the things to do here, but sometimes they just can’t find the time to enjoy it all! Take our guests, for example; They love our hotel so much that don’t even think about leaving the facilities, but then they hear someone talking about the gorgeous places found in the surroundings only to realize that it’s already too late, cause they’re vacations are over!
It’s only natural that you wanna find some time to see the surroundings, right? C’mon, this is the Mexican Caribbean! You’ll regret not taking a look at what’s out there, and we don’t want you to leave with any regrets at all. So if you’re looking forward to trying some of the best of Tulum and don’t wanna miss a thing, we’ve come up with this quick pick of some of the highlights that you can’t miss. Are you ready?
Visit an archaeological site
The Riviera Maya is home to some of the most impressive archeological sites in the world, and most of them are pretty close to Tulum! Of course, there are some popular sites all along the Yucatan Peninsula, but it will take almost half of your day to get there; don’t worry! You can also visit the superb ruins of Tulum, which can be found only 15 minutes away from Maria del Mar Boutique Hotel. You can also visit the archaeological site of Muyil and take a tour through the canals of the Muyil lagoon at the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve, or you can adventure to the majestic site of Coba, which is home to the only temple in the shape of a pyramid that you can actually climb, making it a great spot for shooting cool photos. It’s worth the trip!
Swim in a cenote
Some people can’t stand the heat and think of the gorgeous turquoise sea waters as the only way to freshen up… but Tulum is home to some of the best cenotes in the Riviera Maya! These sinkholes of crystal clear fresh water are the best way to cool and enjoy a super fun day in a gorgeous, natural pool. You can even scuba dive in some of them. There’s no such thing as “the best cenote”, as we think that most of them (at least all that have been discovered) are incredible and a must when visiting Tulum. Our guests love visiting Cenote Dos Ojos, which is pretty close to the city. If you’re into diving, you can’t miss Cenote The Pit, which is more than 150 meters deep, a diver’s paradise without a doubt. You can also visit Casa Cenote, which is a wide open gorgeous cenote, surrounded by trees and amazing wildlife.
Enjoy a local, organic dinner
The night in Tulum is all about the food. Though Maria del Mar is proud home for Mina, one of the finest restaurants in town, offering exquisite Mexican-Argentinian fusion cuisine, we strongly recommend that you take at least one night to visit one of the many options along the hotel zone. The unique environment, the smell of wood, and the best local ingredients are basic guidelines for the Tulum cuisine, so we’re sure you’ll enjoy a great experience, no matter where you choose to have dinner.
So as you can see, it’s not about the amount of time; No matter if you ain’t staying for long, you can make the most of your time and have a great time in Tulum.
